Most former U.S. presidents have enough class to retreat from the spotlight after they leave office and give their successors a chance to lead the country unchallenged. Unfortunately, Barack Hussein Obama is such a classless egomaniac that he can’t seem to hand over the spotlight to Donald Trump, and has instead spent the last few months bashing the current president while making public appearances all over the world.
ABC 7 Chicago reported that Obama is scheduled to speak to mayors from around the world at a Chicago summit to discuss climate change this week. The three-day North American Climate Summit, which is being billed as the first of it’s kind by the city, began on Monday.
While addressing the gathering on Tuesday, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel claimed that the mayors are stepping up because there’s no consensus from national governments.
“They are entitled to their own opinions. They’re just not entitled to their own facts,” Emanuel said of Donald Trump’s White House.
This came months after Trump withdrew the U.S. from the Paris climate accord. It is likely that Obama will use this appearance to attack Trump, as he has spent the last week criticizing the current president during appearances in Asia and France.
While in France, Obama took a clear shot at the Trump administration when he said that there was a “temporary absence of American leadership” on climate change.
Before speaking at the event, Obama met with French President Emmanuel Macron in the Elysee palace. Macron told reporters that the meeting was in a “private capacity” and as such there wasn’t an official photograph or information about what was discussed.

It’s disturbing that Obama is continuing to meet with world leaders as if he is still the president. While appearing in India a few days before the France speech, Obama slammed the “destructive populism from the left or the right” that he called a threat to modern democracy.
“The thing I love about America and I suspect the thing you love about India is just this cacophony of life and it throws up all kinds of variety,” Obama said in response to a question about Trump. “There are political trends in America that I don’t agree with and abide by but I recognise as part of a running thread in American life.”
Obama went on to say that he has become “obsessed” with the way news is handled and consumed, particularly by the young.
“We are more connected than ever before but … more and more we are fitting facts to suit our opinions rather than formulating our opinions based on facts,” said Obama. “This poses a great danger because democracies can’t function if we can’t agree on a basic baseline of what is true and what is false.”
